HOW BACKWOODS DESIGNS LLC STARTED
Backwoods Designs LLC was founded by Scott Lehmann in 2011. Scott’s interest in woodworking really started to develop during his middle school years and by the time he was finishing high school, Scott was taking his woods classes for a second time for no school credit, just because he enjoyed them.

Backwoods Designs LLC was founded by Scott Lehmann in 2011. Scott’s interest in woodworking really started to develop during his middle school years and by the time he was finishing high school, Scott was taking his woods classes for a second time for no school credit, just because he enjoyed them.
After high school, he earned an associates degree in construction and cabinetmaking. Following college, Scott worked for a home builder and then for a cabinet maker as well for a few years. And in 2011, he opened Backwoods Designs. As business grew, Scott couldn’t keep up just running on his own, so in 2013, his wife Marisa left her job as a middle school math teacher and joined the business full time as well.
After high school, he earned an associates degree in construction and cabinetmaking.

To this day, Scott and Marisa are both equally involved in each step of the process, from designing, to building, to installing, they work together side by side everyday. Together, they’ve been in hundreds of homes and have built thousands of cabinets. They both enjoy sharing their expertise, their skills, and their craftsmanship with their customers, and in case you’re wondering: yes, they are still happily married. 😉
